Northwest Coastal paintings are particularly popular with Vancouver art consumers. The coastal city of Vancouver, British Columbia, offers breathtaking vistas of green, forested mountains, rocky cliffs, and scores of islands along its coastline.  It’s no wonder that the location is especially inspirational to local painters and photographers, not to mention countless other artists, past and present.

Of course, artists such as Emily Carr, Robert Bateman, Bill Reid, and Lawren Harris are quite well-known for their ‘coastal paintings’. However, many contemporary artists, too, such as Ross Penhall, Dana Irving, and Glenn Payan, have created paintings that recreate the spectacular images of the Great Northwest’s coastal vistas. And quite recently, one young Vancouver artist,  Sam Siegel, is really beginning to make waves in the local art scene, with his Northwest coastal paintings.
