With its muted colors and angular shapes, the painting does posses a somewhat eerie and ‘ancient’ quality. And the variety of subliminal shapes, including the miniature cloud hovering over the pond, contribute to its magical, mystical feel. At first glance, I missed not seeing a spot of complimentary color – a dab of red or orange somewhere – until I noticed the artist signed his name in red, and I said to myself, ‘aah, there it is’!
