Sam says his paintings are a natural extension of his interest in hiking and camping. “I’ve always loved being outdoors, and exploring wilderness environments. For me, my painting is just another way I can explore the world. I would say, I’m really just trying to recreate the same magical feeling that I experience when I’m at the top of some mountain cliff. I’m always finding new techniques and nuances that I hope will help me achieve that feeling. And if my paintings can be an opportunity for other people to feel that same kind of thing, that’s why I do it.”
