Beacon Rock | Collector Series
One of the predominant characteristics of Sam Siegel’s paintings is that they generally have a colorful, joyful, ‘fairytale-like’ quality that makes them feel emotionally ‘uplifting’. So it’s particularly interesting that, at the same time, many of his paintings often feature a sky of dark and foreboding ‘storm clouds’. ‘Beacon Rock’ is a case in point. It’s comprised of the pale greens and blues that typically define Sam’s vision of the ‘Great Northwest’ landscapes. But, as is found in numerous other Sam Siegel paintings, such as Anvil Island, Eternal Home, and Storm Island, you might also find a sky filled with a geometry of dark, foreboding cloud shapes.
